When it comes to quick counter attacks, we want to simplify it as a team and focus on getting that puck up ice. We attack south to north with a hard pass up the boards to the W rather than giving everybody time to switch lanes and get into position.

I love the D to D regroup from the strong side to the weak side but it would not be an example of a quick counter attack. Some coaches may say we don’t want to use the D to D very much because it allows the other team to react and set up a neutral zone forecheck. Instead they would say we want quick counters, D to a FWD as soon as we can, with as little amount of time in the neutral zone and go.  That is a way to catch the other team off guard with speed and giving them no time to react. So these are both offensive concepts in the neutral zone, and the difference between quick counter-attack and regroup options.
